Amino acid composition analysis

The analysis of the amino acid composition makes it possible to determine the concentration of free amino acids in biological material, such as plasma. Changes in an amino acid profile may occur throughout the course of many diseases, such as genetic defects (e.g. phenylketonuria), improper diet, digestion and absorption disorders, liver or kidney disease (high levels of phenylalanine and methionine). Using a mass spectrometer equipped with a time of flight analyzer, and electrospray ion source enables fast and unambiguous analysis of not only individual amino acids, but also many of their derivatives, e.g. biogenic amines, or collagen breakdown products (hydroxyproline, pyridinoline).

In addition to the analysis of free amino acid concentrations in biological fluids, after hydrolysis our team also analyzes the amino acid composition of any material, protein, tissue or food product.
